9U Advanced Start Their Season Off RightUpdated Monday September 25, 2017 by Donnie Snyder.
September 24th, New Tampa FL,
The 9U Advanced Baseball team traveled to New Tampa on Sunday to play their first double header of the season. Fresh off an impressive run in 8U this summer, the boys had limited time to get ready for their first kid pitch game. New-comer Easton Stegbauer took the hill in game one against New Tampa B. It was an impressive showing, as Stegbauer struck out seven batters in only three innings enroute to a 14-1 victory. Logan Wulff hosed the first attempted base stealer of the day with a pea-rod to Jackson Wing. Second base was on lock down all day with Max Wing and Bryson Kautz. Danny Snyder and Andrew Hobbs anchored the corners not allowing a ball to squeeze by. Leo Smith made a line drive out look routine in center and then fired the ball in to home to keep the runner from tagging. Smith also added a hit. The outfield of Smith, McGarrigle, Brethen, and Garris played solid all game long. Kyle Garris entered the game in the fourth inning to secure the save for Stegbauer. Jayden Brethen had two hits from the lead off spot.
Game two was against New Tampa A. Andrew Hobbs took the hill, and threw an impressive couple of innings limiting the damage and allowing his defense to work. Wulff and Stegbauer traded off at catcher, and the Wing brothers locked down the middle. Bryson Kautz exhibited his super utility role and moved to third base. Brethen once again started the game with a hit. Andew Hobbs, Max Wing, and Leo Smith combined to execute a near flawless run down. Max Wing, Logan Wulff, Leo Smith, Easton Stegbauer, Andrew Mcgarrigle, and Kyle Garris all contributed hits. Danny Snyder spelled Hobbs in the third and threw three innings of one run ball striking out four. Bryson Kautz entered in the fifth inning to nail down the save striking out the last batter of the game. Final score 11-4. The boys will be at home at NW October 8th for a double header.
