NW 8U Advanced Team Spring Champions !!!

April 30th, Gibsonton, FL,

The NW 8U Advanced Team entered the final tournament ready to play. Game one against a very well coached North Tampa team was executed to perfection, with each member of the team contributing at least one hit. Every player hit the ball hard and more importantly, there were no mental errors. Final score 9-0.

Game two was a battle. Fresh off a win against Fossil Park, the East Bay Warriors came out of the gate swinging the stick. NorthWest was ready though, with defensive catches in the outfield by Jayden Brethen and Andrew McGarrigle (although the umpire mistakenly called McGarrigle's catch a drop on the transfer). McGarrigle also had three hits in the game. Bryson Kautz continued his hot hitting with a stand up double. Logan Wulff had two amazing plays at the plate in which he showed his toughness blocking the plate. Jack Kwilecki had another triple, his fourth triple of the season. Reese Sanchez had a huge two RBI single with two outs. Andrew Hobbs continued his Longoria-like play at third base locking down the hot corner. Danny Snyder mirrored Hobbs playing lock down defense all day at first base. Kyle Garris continued to show why he is an intricle member of this team with two sacrifice hits to the right side with less than two outs and runners on. Garris also contributed an RBI single. Leo Smith was on fire at the plate, hitting every ball hard and racking up three RBI's. Up 12-11 in the top of the 6th inning with runners on 2nd and 3rd and one out, East Bay's heart of the lineup was poised to take the lead until second baseman Max Wing snagged a line drive up the middle in mid-air and from his knees threw to his brother Jackson who had been badly injured the inning before but gutted it out to cover second base and double off the runner for a final score and NW win of 12-11.

The coaches would like to thank the players and the parents for their dedication this season. This marks the second consecutive season the NW 8U team has won the AB Championship!
